The Earth/Space Graduate Studies Program
Maryland
Space Grant Consortium (MDSGC)
in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins University Graduate
Division of Education offers graduate course work in earth/space
science that may be used toward:
- A
Hopkins graduate certificate in Earth/Space Science; or
- A
Hopkins master’s degree -- Master of Science in Education:
Educational Studies with Concentration in Earth/Space
Science.
Who May Apply
Elementary, middle or high school mathematics, science,
physics, environmental science, social studies, or geography
teachers from public or private schools may apply to the
program.
MDSGC
Funding Assistance
Certificate Program
MDSGC provides scholarship funding for one-third of current
Hopkins tuition and the full registration fee for teachers
enrolled in the Graduate Certificate Program (six courses
or 18 credits). These six courses are listed below under
Description of Graduate Programs.
Master's
Degree Program
MDSGC provides scholarship funding for one-third of current
Hopkins tuition and the full registration fee for the same
six courses offered in the Graduate Certificate Program
(or 18 credits) for teachers enrolled in the Master of Science
in Education: Educational Studies with Concentration in
Earth/Space Science. These six courses are listed below
under Description of Graduate Programs.
Teacher
Financial Responsibilities
Teacher participants in the Earth/Space Science Graduate
Program are responsible for the remainder of the tuition,
for course textbooks and other related course materials,
for their own transportation, and for Hopkins parking fees
for those courses that are conducted on the Homewood campus.
Teachers in the master’s degree program are also responsible
for the 15 credits needed beyond the certificate courses.
