The project for the Goddard Space Flight Center web systems
engineering portal involved the production of an internal and
external website along with the implementation of a related document
repository.
This project would allow the audience, comprised
of people both internal and external to NASA, to understand
the scope of the functions and responsibilities being accomplished
by the staff under the Code 599 branch, as well as to gain
an
appreciation of the difficulty of the work accomplished by
this staff group toward the success of the numerous projects
completed
within the various agencies of NASA. In addition, the development
of this web system and accompanying document repository would
contribute to enhanced recognition of the work of the Code
599 branch.
Contribution:
Matt was hired by Emergent Space Technologies,
Inc., to work for the customer Maria So, who is the head of the
branch under Code 599 of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. During
the ten weeks he was assigned to this project group, he was working
on the creation of both internal and external websites as well
as a document repository. His contribution to this project was
a substantial beginning to the implementation of this system
as well as a positive achievement of the the goals of the branch
under Code 599.
Specifically Matt assisted with the set-up of
the internal website through his work with the various software
applications of OWL, Apache, and SQL Part of this internal
web set-up involved the development of the document repository
through
the use of the software used for the internal website. Matt
also assisted with the development of the external website which
was
established using HTML along with Java Script software. The
development of this external website would provide a system of
information
which would be particularly useful for systems engineers.
