Project Description:

Major: BS Aerospace Engineering

Company: Honeyell Technology Solutions, Inc. (HTSI)

Mentor: Eric Mathis

Code: 450 - Space Communications Program

The Near Earth Network Services (NENS) Contract was awarded to Honeywell Technology Solutions, Inc. (HTSI) in October of 2003. The project group, HTSI/Network Loading & Modeling (NL&M), helped manage all near earth satellite communications through simulation of mission usage of the space and ground networks, and advised missions in the planning stages how to best design their mission to meet the communications requirements. A restricted database Mission-Station Information System (MSIS), was designed to support that role by making important data required for network scheduling easy to access. This included ground network and space network capabilities, along with mission capabilities and requirements.

Contribution:

During this project Jason helped to update the information in the restricted MSIS Database and write and edit PHP code for the database website. Jason prepared data to be entered into the database and directly entered the data himself. Along with using PHP to write dynamic HTML, he also used it to dynamically create graphics when the user requested them. Jason also provided suggestions for improving the structure and layout of the database which were incorporated into the database.
