Graduate
Certificate Program: Earth/Space Science
Educational
professionals who want to pursue their knowledge and tracking
skills in Earth/Space Science may pursue the Graduate Certificate
Program. Designed for elementary, middle and high school
teachers, the 15-credit certificate program represents the
core concentration requirements for the 36-credit Master's
degree in Mathematics and Science Education with a concentration
in Earth/Space Science. The content and methodology are
integrated into all the courses. The courses reflect the
Maryland State Department of Education's Outcomes and Core
Learning Goals in Earth/Space Science, The American Association
for the Advancement of the Science's K-12 Benchmarks for
Science Literacy, and the National Academy of Science's
K-12 Standards.

Requirements
In consultation with an adviser, students create a course
of study including the 15-credits required for the graduate
certificate. An internship is required and will be arranged
with an adviser. Scholarships will be available for all
of the courses through the Maryland Space Grant Consortium.

Admission
Requirements
Graduate certificate program applicants should hold a
bachelor's, masters, or a post-master's degree in education
or a related field from a regionally accredited college
or university with a cumulative grade point average of
3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), or a 3.0 cumulative grade point
average for the last half of the undergraduate program.
Applicants should also submit official transcripts from
all colleges attended for bachelor's and post baccalaureate
study and an application of admission for the School of
Professional Studies in Business and Education.

Master
of Science in Education: Mathematics and Science Education
Concentration in Earth/Space Science
This
Master of Science in Education, Mathematics and Science
Education with a concentration in Earth/Space Science is
intended for educational professionals who want to enhance

earth/space science. The content and methodology are integrated

for the graduate certificate. An internship is required
and will be arranged with an adviser. There are three
required courses and three elective courses in earth/space
science or a related area. Scholarships will be available
for all of the courses through the Maryland Space Grant
Consortium.
